Ingrid Gerling

Dr. Ingrid Gerling, a violinist native of Porto Alegre, Brazil, has performed extensively as a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician throughout the United States, South America, Europe, and Asia.

Dr. Gerling completed her Doctorate of Musical Arts degree at the Moores School of Music in Houston, TX. She studied violin performance with Prof. Frank Huang, concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic, and conducting with Franz Anton Krager. Dr. Gerling is the former concertmaster of the Moores School Symphony Orchestra, the Moores School Opera and Ballet Orchestras, as well as the Houston Heights Orchestra. She was selected as a DaCamera Young Artist in the 2015-2016 season.

Her performances include regular appearances as a violinist for Musiqa, Houston’s premiere new music ensemble, and the Mercury orchestra. She is also a member of the Houston-based Axiom quartet. Dr. Gerling is the Professor of Violin and Orchestra Director at San Jacinto College Central and the University of St. Thomas, and also maintains a very active private violin studio.
