He is currently consulting for the United States Air Force where he is evaluating, standardizing and replacing outdated Information Systems. After 37 years of military service, he retired in 2003. He spent seven years enlisted service in the United States Marine Corp and then transferred to the United States Air Force where he graduated as a distinguished graduate from Officer Candidate School and served his remaining years as a Fighter Pilot. He received many rewards for serving his country throughout his career. JD also retired as an International Pilot for American Airlines.

As a native San Antonian, JD graduated from Highlands High School. He then received a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering degree from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from Saint Mary’s University. In his years of volunteer service, he served on the Board of the Mental Health Association in Greater San Antonio, the San Antonio Airport Advisory Board and was the Texas Air National Guard Community Liaison Officer. Other volunteer activities included many years of mentoring at-risk students, building homes for Habitat for Humanity and the Children’s Hospital fund-raisers.

His interest in music greatly increased over the years as his son, Joseph Gonzalez, matriculated at the University of Texas at Austin and Northwestern University in the field of music. He is now a premiere percussionist who has studied with the top percussionists in the country. Joseph recently completed his summer performance with the Aspen Music Festival and he currently performs with the Chicago Civic Orchestra and the New World Symphony in Florida. JD and his wife, Anna, attend all of his performances.[/vc_column_text][mk_button dimension=”flat” size=”medium” url=”/cmitest/about#board” align=”center” bg_color=”#009ca6″ btn_hover_bg=”#091f40″ btn_hover_txt_color=”#ffffff”]RETURN TO BOARD[/mk_button][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/mk_page_section]
