Marcela Campos Frías was born in the state of Coahuila, Mexico. She started violin studies at the age of 10 at the Escuela Municipal de Música Silvestre Revueltas in Gómez Palacio, Durango. Soon after she won the concertmistress chair of the school popular music orchestra. At the age of 12, she started violin lessons with violinist Mauricio Ocampo. In 2019 she won an audition to become a member of the Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil de Torreón, with whom she performed formal concerts as well as educational concerts for schools and for underserved communities.

In October 2019 Marcela Campos was selected to perform at the Ricardo Castro theater in the city of Durango, Mexico, under the auspices of the International Silvestre Revueltas Festival.  In February 2020, she was selected to visit New Mexico State University for lessons with faculty professors and a Side-by-Side concert with the New Horizons Symphony from Las Cruces, New Mexico, and the Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil de Torreón. Most recently she has been busy performing violin recitals in her hometown and chamber music with her mentor Jorge Martinez-Rios.

Marcela is currently working on her bachelor’s degree in music performance at the Universidad Autónoma de Zacatecas under the instruction of violinist Abdel Anzaldua.
